The Daze - Bio

The Daze - That`s Wizkat and me, Doc Jester! A two-man rap crew from around Cologne, Germany. Connected by the love to hip-hop we hooked up in high school to form a band and kick shit. Mainly influenced by the US-american rapshit, the lyrics came in english, not in german, which was not easy to understand for a couple of suckers.

But rappin` is an art coming straight from the heart, so whata we gonna do? Quit? Never! Not giving a fuck the lyrics were written, but the difficult thing was to come up with some fat beats. So it was like that Ugly Duckling - shit: just messing with a tape deck, pressing “record”. Computer technology was helpful in the later 90`s, so in 1996/97 the time was there for fat samplings and beats. The influences? For me it was definitely some of that ICE-T, House Of Pain, Funkdoobiest, Cypress Hill and Pharcyde - shit! Sampling, programming, all shit was done by Daze itself! Wizkat had hooked up with Fettzo, a guy we knew from high school, who had all that stuff we needed for our first recording session in Cologne on August 2nd/3rd 1997, microphones, the one and only Technics 1210 MK2 and that phat 8-track shit. Perfectly mastered by Fettzo the first album was born: “Straight From The Outback”. It reflects some of that laid back, relaxed “Hey, we live in a fucking village, down south-western Germany” - shit. And that`s what the Outback meant to us: Some peaceful place nearby, with cornfields and trees, that`s where we were raised up!

Well, for the next years, professional training and studies kept us busy, cause we didn`t sell enough cd`s to bring home the bacon as rap superstars... But we`ve always been working on new beats and rhymes and from time to time we hooked up to hang on with some brandnew shit. And then - about six years later, employed, both of us married - we had more than enough shit to put a new album together! The name - Even Worse - tells those, who critisized the first one, what the second one is all about: strictly street material with english rhymes - same as it ever was, and even worse.

Some of the tracks are ready (for download), some have still to be mastered, but it is coming...
